The sandals look lovely and the quality is great. I took my usual size (39) and it runs short. I have another pair of Essen shoes that are also a 39 and fit quite differently. The knots rub a bit, I'm hoping they soften over time and get more comfortable.

Sizing is determined by a few factors - length, width, instep height, etc - which is why loafers (a closed-toe style) can fit differently to a sandal. This style has a moulded footbed (similar to Birkenstocks) which typically will take a couple of wears to soften and mould to your foot. It sounds like you may be in between sizes, in which case we recommend sizing up for this style.
We used a very soft nappa leather, but as the straps are padded they will also take a couple of wears to shape to your feet. Until then, you can shift the knot to whichever position on your foot feels most comfortable.

I think they’re beautiful shoes, light but well made, but they were not comfortable out of the box, I’ve had to wear them several times before being able to wear them several hours at a time and I also feel like the sizing is a tiny bit small.

Thank you for your feedback. The leather and fussbett do require a couple of wears to mould to the shape of your feet, similar to Birkenstocks. If you have a high instep (the bone on top of your foot), you can move the knot around until you find a position that's comfortable, or wait until the leather has worn in a little. Once it's taken on the shape of your feet, this style is very comfortable.
Because of the moulded insole, we'd also advise sizing up if you're between sizes. If you're ever unsure, feel free to email us with your measurements and we can help find the best size for you.

My biggest decision was what colour and size to purchase! I am always nervous about purchasing from web sites when it comes to shoes.
First world problems I know but given the price point of these beautiful shoes I was determined to get it right!
I was also glad to find a distributor nearby - with whom I could try on the shoes - and I found they ran a little small for me and I was able to make an informed decision and ordered direct from the web site. Had the shop carried my size then I would have happily supported my local great taste fashion store. But LOVE LOVE these gorgeous sandals and hope to get years and year of wear from them
