Mallorca Postcards
Europe holds a special place in my heart. Not only is it home to the Netherlands, my native country, but it also continually inspires my design and creative process, particularly through our collective workshops in the region. Recently my family and I visited the beautiful island of Mallorca for a close friend's wedding. This trip offered a perfect chance to reset and refresh, all while testing out several of my latest designs (cobblestones and all).
The Island
The largest of Spain’s Balearic Islands, Mallorca is a treasure trove of natural beauty, culinary charm and artisanal craftsmanship. From the beautiful coastline and secluded coves to the limestone mountains, Spanish architecture, wineries and farmland, the Mediterranean destination offers a rich tapestry of experiences that range from relaxation to adventure and cultural immersion.
An artisanal haven
There is a rich artistic heritage that lives within the fabric of the island and with it, an abundance of inspiration. Mallorca is renowned for traditional ceramics, crafted by hand from clay and artfully decorated with vibrant colours and intricate patterns to depict life amongst locals. Each workshop celebrates the talents of individual artisans creating timeless designs using age-old techniques; a philosophy that strongly resonates with ESSEN.
