Lydia Pang | In Her Shoes

We first met Lydia Pang in 2016 and were immediately drawn to her incredible style and warm presence. Lydia is a Welsh-born half-Chinese Goth, Art History geek and Feminist. After 9 years in London, working in branding and art direction, Lydia made the move to New York with her long-term boyfriend and their dog Betty. Here, she works as a Creative Director at Refinery29. A woman of multiple talents, she works with creative teams to constantly craft new ways to bring brands to life - improving conceptual clarity, visual refinement and design cohesion. Russh Magazine x ESSEN

We are beyond excited to see our Modern Oxford featured in the latest issue of Russh Magazine this month. It's a powerful issue that champions the ultimate ESSEN woman; intelligent, indefinable, totally assured and full of self-esteem.  She is not defined by age of occupation, has an appreciation for the finer details and is understated in her approach to style. Modern femininity is knowing yourself and being true to your own individual style. Our shoes and understated designs are the building blocks that complement this type of woman. Photography by Adrian Price. Fashion & Styling Nat Petrevski     You can see more of the Modern Oxford here

Thea Løvstad is a photographer and eco-artist born and raised in a small town by the sea, South in Norway. She has always been inspired and influenced by the contrasts of the special, serene Scandinavian light and the raw nature.  It's lovely to meet you Thea, we absolutely love your work, could you tell us a bit more about it? My work is definitely highly inspired and influence by the Scandinavian nature and culture – the philosophy of appreciating the odd and little things such as a special ray of light or a quirky tree. Another important factor in my work is also to as far as possible only work with brands that are sustainably and ethically produced. I think we all have a...

Aja Edmond | In Her Shoes

Aja Edmond is a woman of many talents, with a title of marketing and branding strategist, she is also creative entrepreneur, and lifestyle blogger/digital influencer. Currently based in Berlin, she spends about 25% of the year in New York and Chicago. Can you tell us a little about your background – what path led you to working as a digital influencer? Believe it or not, my academic background is in Computer Science. Though I loved the analytical curriculum I couldn't see myself being a programmer so after university went into finance (investment banking...

In Her Shoes

Maria Van Nguyen is a designer and creative director based in Oslo. Maria curates a beautiful personal blog where she talks about learning to live a more considerate, simple and better life. We sat down with her to chat about art, culture, style, travel and food. What does style & substance mean to you?
It’s when you dress with confidence, unaffected by what other people think. Your style is personal, effortless and a natural representation of who you are. How did you get into design?
I’m naturally creative in everything I do and will always implement it in other subjects and matters. Therefore I knew from an early age that I wanted to be in a design-oriented world and so I’ve always had a goal I’ve been working towards. When...
